GSMS launches Green and Sustainable Environments — inaugural issue now live
The Green and Sustainable Materials Society is proud to announce the launch of Green and Sustainable Environments (GSEnv), an international peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to innovative approaches that support genuinely green and long-lasting environmental solutions. The inaugural issue is now live at pubs.greensus.org/gsenv, featuring five rigorously reviewed articles from researchers across Indonesia.
GSEnv publishes work on environmental remediation, pollution control, sustainability assessment, life cycle analysis, waste management, and green engineering. The journal places particular emphasis on strategies that reduce pollution and resource consumption, promote circularity, and enhance the resilience of natural and built systems in the face of rapid urbanization and climate change.
The first issue highlights the breadth of the journal's scope. The research articles address illegal temporary waste disposal management in Bandar Lampung, rainwater harvesting quality in Sungai Langka village, and hybrid aluminum electrocoagulation for acid mine drainage treatment. A comprehensive review on emerging contaminants in Indonesia maps the regulatory landscape, while an Editor's Choice on cassava stem waste valorization demonstrates practical circular-economy solutions for antibiotic removal from aqueous media.
All articles undergo single-blind peer review with a minimum of two qualified reviewers. Papers are published under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license, ensuring free access and reuse for readers and authors worldwide. The journal is indexed via OAI-PMH at journal.revise.id/oai, with OpenAIRE and CORE registration in progress.
Article processing charges are waived for the first three years, making GSEnv accessible to researchers regardless of institutional funding. The editorial board, led by Editor-in-Chief Dr. Tarmizi Taher of the Sumatera Institute of Technology, welcomes submissions in all subject areas covered by the journal.
