Introducing Green and Sustainable Environments: A New Platform for Environmental Research
The Green and Sustainable Materials Society (GSMS) is pleased to announce the launch of Green and Sustainable Environments, a cutting-edge new journal that will publish novel and globally relevant original research across the breadth of environmental science, engineering, and sustainability solutions.
Green and Sustainable Environments will focus on research that advances understanding and practical solutions for environmental challenges—spanning water and wastewater treatment, air and soil pollution, solid waste and circular economy, climate adaptation and mitigation, nature-based solutions, environmental monitoring and modeling, as well as environmental policy and governance that drive measurable impact on human and ecosystem health.
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Tarmizi Taher as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of Green and Sustainable Environments,” said the GSMS Publications Division. “Dr. Taher brings strong expertise and a clear vision for building a rigorous and impactful journal that bridges fundamental research with real-world implementation—particularly in emerging and rapidly developing regions where sustainable environmental solutions are urgently needed.”
Dr. Tarmizi Taher is a lecturer and researcher at Institut Teknologi Sumatera, Indonesia.
“Green and Sustainable Environments launches at a time when environmental systems are under increasing pressure from urbanization, industrial growth, land-use change, and climate impacts,” said Dr. Taher. “These challenges demand not only scientific advances, but also scalable technologies, evidence-based policy, and cross-sector collaboration.”
